Thank you for your interest in Emory University 's J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Programs. We do not have any unfilled PGY1, PGY2 or PGY3 positions for 2008-09. If you are currently in medical school and are interested in a Visiting Student Elective click here

Emory's program is both rigorous and competitive. Each year we receive more than 3000 applications and interview 10-15% of candidates. We offer approximately 50 three-year positions (Categorical and Primary Care), 4 Research Pathway positions (which require application to the Categorical Program) and approximately 30 one-year positions (Preliminary and Transitional). The Preliminary one-year positions are primarily reserved for applicants matching in Emory’s Radiation Oncology residency. The Transitional one-year positions are primarily reserved for applicants matching in Emory residencies such as (but not limited too) Anesthesiology, Radiology, Neurology, Ophthalmology and Dermatology.

We no longer have a Med/Peds or Med/NucMed program.

We accept applications through ERAS (http://www.aamc.org/audienceeras.htm)

ONLY. Please do not send paper applications or additional paper documents.

In summary, criteria for applications are as follows:

* Application through ERAS, deadline December 15, 2008, complete application by January 1, 2009.

* USMLE Transcript (Step 1) and/or COMLEX Transcript for DO students

* Minimum scores = PASSING (We do not have any particular USMLE score at which we do/do not grant an interview, but obviously those with the best scores have a better chance of getting invited. Thus it is advantageous to have competitive scores)

* Two letters of recommendation (one must be from a faculty member of your Department of Medicine) ERAS allows you to submit up to four.

* Dean's letter

Interviews are granted on an invitation only basis and take place in November, December and January.

We hope this information is helpful and look forward to your application.
