At Emory University Department of Medicine, research is conducted within each of the 9 Department of Medicine divisions. Each division performs basic science research, translational and clinical research.

The Department of Medicine faculty receives approximately 20-25 percent of the Emory School of Medicine's extramural research funding each year. We maintain a sustained effort to recruit the best researchers in our divisional areas and to invest in all ongoing programs. We also enjoy close collaborations with other on-campus and sister institutions, including the Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia Institute of Technology, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the Atlanta VA Medical Center.
