Internal Visiting Professorship Program (IVPP)

The program will offer an opportunity to faculty of the Department of Medicine to spend a day in a division other than that of their primary appointment, exchanging ideas and knowledge, ultimately building both collaboration and collegiality. The visiting faculty will meet investigators of the host division and give a research seminar at one conference of the host division. The length of the visit and the format are intended to be as flexible as possible. Division Directors are encouraged to invite 2-4 internal visiting professors per year, and to set this level of participation as a divisional goal. Alternatively, faculty members interested in participating in this program may select a host division and contact the conference organizer directly.

Monnie Wasse

"My feeling is that the divisional visiting professor idea is terrific. It allowed me to become familiar with colleagues outside of my division, get a better idea of their research interests and how our interests might combine to form future collaborations. It made me feel engaged as a member of a community of investigators and gave me a more positive feeling towards my institution."

- Monnie Wasse, MD, MPH, first IVPP professor
