Joanne Shirine Allam, MD

Dr. Allam has completed her undergraduate and medical school education at the American University of Beirut, graduating with an M.D. in 2001. She then pursued her training in the United States, joining the Emory University Internal Medicine program. She later completed a subspecialty fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, followed by a second fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. She came back to Emory after her training and joined the Pulmonary Division in 2009 as Assistant Professor of Medicine. She sees patients at the Atlanta VA Medical center, where she also supervises residents in the pulmonary clinic, sleep clinic, and the intensive care unit. Her expertise and clinical interest are in Sleep Medicine and Interstitial Lung Diseases.
Dr. Allam is also actively involved in education and serves as Assistant Program Director for the Emory Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship.
