David Schulman,
MD, MPH named Pulmonary Teacher of the Year for 2004
This award is given annually by the fellows
in training of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical
Care to the faculty member they feel best embodies the spirit
and practice of medical education. This year they have bestowed
this honor on Dr. Schulman.
Dr. Fernando Holguin receives
the 2004 Golden Apple Award
Fernando Holguin, MD was named the Emory University Golden
Apple Award winner by the Department of Medicine for 2004.
This award is given to the best teacher department-wide and
represents one of the greatest honors bestowed by housestaff
for excellence in medical education. The award is modeled
after the national Golden Apple award from the American Medical
Student Association.

2002-2003 American Lung Association of Georgia Partners in
Progress Award
The Emory Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine
received the Partners in Progress Award from the American Lung Association
of Georgia for its involvement in educational and community activities
held in collaboration with this organization.

Michael F. Iademarco, MD, MPH CDC and VAMC
Pulmonary Star
The Pulmonary Star is awarded each year to the faculty member of
the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine who
has contributed the most to its clinical, teaching, and research missions.
An important criterion for winning this award is that the contributions
of the awardee need to greatly enhance the visibility of the Division
within the Department of Medicine at Emory and outside of the university.
