New efforts to screen and prevent TB among high-risk residents where they live and seek care for other services are underway. Expanded outreach services include mobile screening stations at a variety of community-based sites, such as medical clinics, neighborhood health centers, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and corrections facilities. A series of special incentive programs, based on patient focus group findings, will be evaluated to determine the most effective methods for encouraging screening, follow-up and directly observed therapy among high risk groups.
