Biography

Mikhail Akbashev is an Assistant Professor at Emory University’s School of Medicine working and teaching out of Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta. He joined the faculty after completing his internal medicine residency at Emory. He received his MD from Emory university. His clinical and academic interests include quality improvement, anticoagulation and thrombosis, and point-of-care ultrasound in physical examination.

He has served as the medical director of the Grady Anticoagulation Center since 2016, and helped achieve an Anticoagulation Center of Excellence designation.

Dr. Akbashev has worked with many pharmacy committees to streamline order sets and care provided, while monitoring quality of care.

Clinically, he precepts residents and medical students on general wards, night float, and in their Capstone/Summation curriculum, and contributes to resident training in Evidence Based Medicine.
