Faculty Development Committees

Faculty Development Committee

The faculty development committee was created by Dr. Ken Brigham in 2003 with the charge of creating a faculty development program in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Kathy Griendling took over as chair in 2005, and has expanded the committee to include the subcommittees below. The FDC is currently involved in supporting and enhancing diversity, 5-year strategic plan for faculty development, protected time for PhD faculty, and a sabbatical policy.

  • Identify issues in faculty development
  • Create and administer faculty development programs
  • Oversee subcommittees
  • Recommend university-wide initiatives to Dr. Stephens
  • Improve communication across the DOM
  • Oversee new faculty orientation, Faculty Education, Enrichment, and Development (FEED) Conference, and Ambassador Program
  • Coordinate Community events

  • Develop, enhance and maintain mentoring tool kit and other mentoring resource
  • Revitaloze the mentoring program by developing more opportunities for mentoring - both tradtional and novel
  • Monitor mentoring program
  • Sponsor/organize mentoring workshops to enhance the program
